*Everything That's Underlined Has A Link !

My name is Moises and probably by now your aware that I'm a very ill man and although I've usually been the one who gives the help, today I need yours or from someone you know who is a great samaritan. I'm searching for someone who can share a kidney, a kidney from a Live Donor to increase my life expectancy and give me a "normal life" but  before I go any further let me tell you My Story :

At 19 (while in medical school )  I was shocked to learn I had high blood pressure. One of my kidneys never grew and the other was enlarged and ill. As a fighter, I was determined to "never give up". I wanted to follow the course        (helping others also helped me). I managed to move from my grief and graduate from medical school and Family Medicine in Mexico.  Afterward I moved to The U.S. and obtained further training in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry at UTMB. I finished 13years of training. For 42y I've dedicated my life to helping my patients (and I continue to do so on Tuesday and Thursdays,  the days I don't go to dialysis) and being with my family.

Even after decades of living a healthy lifestyle, at 49 my kidney failed. I was fortunate to obtain a preemptive live donor transplant from a great healthy nephew.

That kidney gave out after 16y.  None of my children/wife were able to donate and I was unable to find another live kidney donor, so at 66 I started hemodialysis. It is not fun as it takes 4-5 hours three days a week out of my life. Hemodialysis is life-altering, physically draining, often painful, and emotionally  disruptive process for me. Dialysis also takes a terrible toll on a patients health-the prognosis for a patients health is worse than for many types of Cancer.  Only half of patients who start dialysis can expect to live beyond 5 years.

   I'm about 2.5 months into

             dialysis

There is another option, receiving a kidney from a living donor offers many advantages : reduces the wait time from years to transplant to a few months, a living kidney donor transplant (The Gift of Life),last twice as long as a deceased one. The Donor only needs one kidney to live well and the surgery is very well tolerated by the Donor

You can save a life or drastically improve the quality of life for the recipient. Long term survival is markedly improved than for continuing on dialysis or having a deceased kidney transplant. There is evidence that the survival rate of the donor is also increased!

The U.S. is facing what essentially  has become a permanent shortage of organ donations. There are more than 100,000 people on the waiting list and only about 20,000 transplanted a year, approximately 6000  are from live kidney donors.

The most effective treatment for kidney failure is transplantation. Most persons  who undergo a kidney transplant can resume normal activities such as not being hooked up to a machine, continue to work ,be able to travel and spend spend more time with family and friends.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, if donating a kidney to me is something you would like to consider I would be happy to tell you more about my story and explore the process in determining if you are a match for me or if pairing exchange would  be an option .
